Right-handed batter Tayyab Tahir scored 51 runs to help Pakistan A chase down 180 runs with four wickets in hands against Nepal to win their first match in the ongoing ACC Men's Emerging Cup.
Tayyab was a helping hand to the batters after Pakistan lost their openers in quick succession. Hasebullah (12) and Saim Ayub (24) fell back-to-back to off-spinner Pawan Sarraf inside 10 overs.
But, Tayyab held his nerves calm, building brief partnerships with Omair Yousuf (36) and Kamran Ghulam (31). He ended up scoring 51 runs off alongside 67 balls including six boundaries.
For Nepal, Lalit Rajbanshi took three wickets whereas Sarraf took two.
Earlier, right-handed batter Sompal Kami rescued Nepal and helped them score 179 runs.
Shahnawaz Dahani destroyed Nepal's top order after they decided to bat first. Dahani bagged the top three batters within no time to let Pakistan lead the game from the front.
Nepal were reduced to 39-6 inside 10 overs with very little hope left for survival. And they got the one saviour in the form of Sompal who held his nerves calm and scored his third List A half-century. He scored 75 off 101 balls including nine boundaries and two maximums.
Sompal's innings gave Nepal a breath of hope and they will now look to defend the total.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Wasim Jr also supported Dahani quite well, picking up four wickets for 51 runs in his 10 overs. Dahani bagged five wickets, including the much-needed scalp of Sompal in the end. Sompal edged Dahani's delivery behind the stumps with skipper Mohammad Haris taking a simple catch diving on his right.
